| Business Need | As vendor support for its legacy Enterprise Asset Management System (Maximo 5.2) was ending, the Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC) needed to upgrade to Maximo 7.1. This presented a tremendous opportunity to standardize business processes while minimizing customization to the product used to support billions of dollars of critical Navy assets. |
| Solution | Because the previous implementation of Maximo had been so highly customized, Rentfrow was tasked with performing a "clean" implementation of Maximo 7.1. Rentfrow performed all phases of this project, including requirements gathering, system design and application configuration, production and deployment, and system sustainment. The legacy system included over 14,000 business rules, 1000 tables, and 20,000 columns of data. Rentfrow reviewed all the business rules, migrated existing data, and delivered 100 applications, 50 interfaces, and 200 reports. Based on subsequent changes in requirements by the client, Rentfrow's internal QA team tested over 4000 improvements. |
| Benefits | Rentfrow provided a steam-lined system that is supported by the software vendor while adhering to the Navy's complex business rules. In addition, Rentfrow designed and implemented a build delivery process to ensure standardization and repeatability across all client environments (Development, Test, Acceptance and Production). Finally, Rentfrow identified best practices regarding data migration, promotion of code/scripts, and environment optimization in conformance with the client's configuration management process. |
